Cover lessons
Off sick at 6am? The cover lesson is done.
Give a topic and a year level. You get a full hour of work students can do on their own, with the time for each section printed beside it, notes for the relief teacher and an answer key.
No card required. Time savings are estimates, not measurements.
How it works
Step 1
Give a topic and year
Pick the subject and year level and type what the class is studying. That's all it needs.
Step 2
Check it over
Read the sheet, click anything to change it, or tell Teachivo what to adjust.
Step 3
Send it in
Approve it to get a print-ready student copy and an answer key that opens with notes for the relief teacher.
Made to fill the hour
A full 60 minutes
Three pages for written subjects, four packed pages for maths, with a time beside every section.
Work students can do alone
Clear instructions, a warm-up, core questions and an application task, so the class can work without being taught.
Something for fast finishers
Every cover lesson ends with a challenge section, so nobody runs out of work before the bell.
Notes for the relief teacher
The answer key opens with notes for whoever is covering the class, so they know what students are doing.
Questions teachers ask
Can it cover a whole primary school day?
Yes. For Kindergarten to Year 6, a full-day pack covers three to five subjects, each with slides and a matching worksheet with answers, plus a short guide the relief teacher can follow.
How long is a cover lesson?
Each one is built to fill a 60-minute period, with the time for each section printed beside its heading and a challenge section at the end for fast finishers.
Can students do it without a subject teacher?
Yes. Cover lessons are written as solo work, with clear instructions on the sheet, so a relief teacher who doesn't teach the subject can run the lesson.
Does it come with answers?
Yes. You get a student copy and a separate answer key, which opens with notes for the relief teacher.
Should I still check it?
Yes, even in a hurry. Teachivo uses AI to draft, and AI can make mistakes, so read the sheet before you send it in.
How long does it take?
We estimate about 5 minutes to check and approve a cover lesson, against about 45 minutes to make one by hand. That's an estimate, not a measurement.
